I was reading an article by stevendedalus a little earlier and a passing phrase therein reminded me of a recurring wondering I have: what do men really look for in a woman physically? Is it the languid, limpid-eyed lasses of classical art, the buxom betties depicted in old pirate and western movies, those r&b babes with big bums or indeed the ultra-slender it girls that dominate TV screens, billboards and magazine pages in most of the developed (pardon the pun) world? This pondersome ques...

Forgive me for the Annie! quotes. But even such an offensively upbeat and cheesy musical as the one starring that gal with the gingery curls makes a good point sometimes. In 12 hours I'll be rousing myself from the sweet warmth of my bed to make my way to my Applied Marketing Research exam. It's been a subject I've truly struggled with (and complained about on here numerous times) and an exam I can't say I'm looking forward to sitting, although I am looking forward to it being over. Yet h...

My lecturer hasn't emailed me back about the exam I have in one day's time and I'm annoyed! Moreover my little sister is going to kick me off the computer in about 90 seconds so this form of time-wasting is soon to be ripped from my fingertips. The subject I have the exam for (sucks, as does the exam time: 8am on a Saturday) is one of those subjects which I detest so much I am extra-motivated to study for it, because I just can't stomach the thought of ever having to do it again. I just w...

I just wrote an entry before and it hasn't come up on the "Recent JoeUser Articles" list. I feel marginalised! I bet Brad was just trying to nip my incredibly snide comment about him in the bud before it polluted the JU community beyond repair. Good forward thinking Brad. Tra la la la LA LA L A LA LAAAAAAAAA!!! Teegstar PS. Multiple regression analysis is overrated.

One week and six days. That's how long it's been since I last blogged. Actually, when I put it like that it doesn't really sound like that long, but I feel like it's been ages! And it hasn't been for lack of wanting to either, but I've been trying to be a conscientious little study bug these past two weeks which for the most part precludes me from blogging. But who am I apologising to anyway? The main person I blog for is myself (although I like to be entertaining, or at least diverting, ...

Hi everyone I was going to jump on here and write an upbeat-yet-reflective piece about how this is my last day as a 20 year-old, and tomorrow i will be 21. Except I just spent the last 20 minutes writing a reply to all the responses on my Lesbian mums on Play School post and now I'm not in an upbeat, reflective mood anymore. I shouldn't write about political stuff on here... shouldn't even mention it, because then people with stronger opinions than me challenge my view, which is usuall...

Rightly said Strong Sad. I just discovered my new favourite Strongbad episode: http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail54.html If you don't think this is funny.... well then you probably have a different sense of humour than me, and I'll just have to deal with that. Thank you Interruptor Jones. That is also my egg. Put it down. Teegs

On Channel 10 news tonight there was a story about how lesbian mums were featured on Play School this week. Play School is a very popular tv show for little kids (about ages 3 to 7) in Australia. Part of the show are "real world" snippets, where you look through these "windows" into how different people live their lives. In a recent episode (I think it may have been as recent as this Monday just gone), the trip through the window showed two little girls and their two mums, laughing and playin...

*breathes long sigh of relief* sometimes i'm frustrated with the inability of text to convey exact sounds. you have to compensate in other ways -- imaginitive spelling, describing actions in asterisks... but it's just not the same. that sigh of relief above could be interpreted in any number of ways, but only one of them truly sums up how it sounds. that sigh of relief that you sigh (yes, sigh is one of those groovy dual-function words which are both nouns and verbs) when you have a pr...

The current best thing in the world: extra virgin olive oil. I love it! It should be compulsory... kind of like studying Japanese at school, cept cooler. While I'm on the topic of food, my newest 'invention' is... hang on I should give it a cool, culinary-sounding name... I call it "La Chocolat a la Milo avec Creme Icee". Roughly translated from my appaling French it's milo and ice cream. Ah yes, I hear you scoffing and decrying my brilliant masterpiece with claims that it has been do...

Hi all I'm at uni once again with nine minutes till my lecture starts (although I don't know why I'm being so precise about it as I am invariably late) -- my second last lecture in this subject forever! It's Week 12 already... only one more week of classes after this one.... ... and then it's my birthday... .... and then it's swotvac.... .... then two weeks of exams.... .....then two weeks of internship (yaay!)... ..... then two weeks of holidays.... .... then second semester, whic...

Hello pets and possums I've missed you lot! I've been itching to blog the past couple of days -- not about anything in particular, just to check in and doing my usual pointless ramble -- but unbeknownst to me, my uni lecturers made a secret pact with my desire not to fail my courses and their powers have combined to keep my fingers analysing data sets and proofreading news stories rather than tapping out blog entries. I may resent it now but I'm pretty sure I'll thank them in the end when...

In a previous entry I asked whether dairy products have opiate properties. Well I was further researching this issue just now and it sounds like dairy products are much more than just a source of calcium! Milk and milk products apparently have addictive and opiate properties and have also been linked to the incidence of diabetes, autism and cancer. Not just any milk, mind you, it's A1 milk (as opposed to A2 milk), a distinction which has to do with the types of proteins contained in the milk....
