Hey yo It's another gorgeous night -- really, my whole life is pretty gorgeous. Sure its not always smooth sailing, it has its ups and downs, it's not a bed of roses (hands up if you hate cliches *thrusts both hands in the air... and a foot*) but on the whole it's great. I'm at work at the moment, doing some printing. In about five minutes when I'm finished I'm going to go home and eat food. I'm so blessed. There's no real point to this entry... such is the beauty of blogging. La c...
Has anyone else ever noticed a certain similarity between many of Australia's Prime Ministers? Particularly facial features... possibly in the region above their eyes... What is it with Australian Prime Ministers and having outrageously bizarre eyebrows! I firstly bring your attention to Sir Robert Menzies, a Prime Minister of the 1960s. The man's eyebrows nearly obscured the rest of his face! Even in a portrait, which is usually a little more flattering than real life, the bro...
I realise it may seem I have a bit of an obsession with food (or at least writing about it) but... OH MY GOSH WHITE KIT KAT AND MILK COFFEE..... I'm in heaven. Actually, I'm at work, but it's a Christian organisation, so can we agree I'm about as close as I'm going to get whilst on this pretty blue planet? Seriously though, you've got to try this, it's like the two items (the Kit Kat and the coffee... ooh alliteration) were made for each other before the foundations of the world. ...
Week 10 of the semester = crunch time. So of course it's logical that this is the time of semester that all the non-uni-related aspects of my life go crazy. It couldn't be any other way. Alternative title for this entry: Murphy's Law Governs My Life. In fact, maybe that should just be the name of my blog. Right now I'm at uni with a pile of books on Australia-United States relations sitting beside me, waiting to be read and turned into an essay by Friday. Two hours ago I had a group m...
I haven't posted any photos for a while... here are some pics of me at my friend Audrey's 21st birthday party a couple of weeks ago. Happy birthday Audrey! Je suis a gauche, Audrey est a droit. If you can't see the photo, go here: http://images.ofoto.com/photos652/1/12/33/32/98/5/598323312105_0_ALB.jpg Right to left: myself, the birthday girl and some random whose name I can't remember. Sorry buddy! http://images.ofoto.com/photos652/1/12/33/32/98/3/398323312105_0_ALB.jp...
Uni. Quarter to two in the afternoon. Flanked once more by Norwegian-speaking students. Tired, but alert. Excited, but in a subdued way. Confused, but happy. Confused even more about feeling confused but happy. Reminiscing. Looking forward. Enjoying where I am. Planning my day. Planning my weekend. Planning this month. Planning my life. Smiling.
Let's be honest: I'm a girl of many facets, many past hair colours and many email addresses. I accumulate email addresses like male bower birds accumulate shiny blue things or my sister accumulates dirty clothes (normally my clothes which she has borrowed from me) on her bedroom floor. There's my original email address that I began in 1998 that I still use, my Christian-sounding domain name account (now expired), my supervillain alter-ego account (also expired), the account I started when...
I currently have waves of relief washing over me. Sitting in my (increeeeedibly boring) lecture just before, I had the most horrible, creeping suspicion that I had already taken one of the subjects I am enrolled in this semester. If this were so, it would mean that, not only had *I* paid hundreds of dollars to take a subject I had already taken, but I would get no academic credit for it, I would have to take another subject to make up for it, my graduation may have been delayed, I had already...
Howdy, all Tuesday morning and I'm back at uni for another week. The long weekend is over now and it's business as usual once more. The printer next to me is the current first-place candidate for Technology That Is Both Painfully Slow And Adept In Causing Extreme Frustration And Encouraging Violence. There's probably a number of possible avenues of wit I could travel down as an offshoot of the above award category but my grey matter is intent on making everything else... grey... today....
Eureka! Do you want to know how to tell how good a journalist is at first glance? I have developed an equation to tell you. A journalist's merit is inversely related to their appearance. Now, don't scowl at me like that, I'm not being nasty. In fact you could almost go so far as to say it's a compliment. See, if you're a really ugly journalist you can comfort yourself with the fact you're a great hack; and if you're a bit of an airhead when it comes to business and politics at least...
Oodallally, what a day. I'm of the increasing opinion that sometimes things have to get incredibly dodgy in order for them to become good again. This concept can be applied across a variety of situations. It's the application of this concept to uni courses that I will be expounding on tonight. I'm studying journalism at UQ, as I've said a couple of times before, and it's a program I thoroughly enjoy. I've learned a great deal about culture and politics and have earned some valuable sk...
I've spent most of the morning shuddering in quiet laughter. Now it's time to share the joy... You've simply got to check out: www.engrish.com It's basically a catalogue of the crazy "engrish" the Japanese seem to be so fond of producing. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll do both concurrently. As a taste of things to come... and... Look it, taste it, feel it and get it, Teegs
After the comments and discussion that resulted from my last article, I thought I would indulge my self-centredness and possibly at the same time shed some light upon who I am by writing an entry about... me. Not what happened to me today, not my recent gastronomic fetish, not even an expose on why Christian girls find it so easy to avoid having sex (but that is to come). About me. Name: Tegan -- you can call me Teegs or Teegstar. I'm not putting my surname in because I don't think I coul...
One of the things I like best about JoeUser is being able to read all the stuff the other JUs have written. I like reading snippets of other people's life and thoughts and often feeling a kinship with people who are total strangers. And for those of you who are reading this and thinking to yourself "Teegstar...? I haven't seen that name in the forums very often" it's usually because when it comes to topics that interest or move me enough for me to want to reply, I begin pondering the topic an...
There's stuff I want to write about today but after three false starts to this entry I think I'm going to talk about something else. The thing with blogging is that no one or everyone can read what you write... and really, if no one or everyone was going to read it there wouldn't be too much of a problem. Ack, I'm talking rubbish now. I'm going to go and deal with my problems via a non-Internet related medium. Catch ya.
