I think I work too much. I just sat down at the computer here at home on a Sunday afternoon, and instinctively went to open WinText, the program I write articles in at work. I've also noticed I reach to dial "0" to get an outside line when I go to make a phone call at home. And opening a magazine website or non-work email, I'm getting a compulsion to glance around and check if someone's watching. Weird. I think I need to get a life.
Happy Wednesday all It's getting chillier and hence harder to get out of bed in the mornings. This was made even worse yesterday when there was no hot water at my house! Thankfully Mum warned me before I actually subjected myself to the icy stream, but my morning routine seems incomplete without a shower. After some phone calls and a visit from the electric heater guy last night, the pipes at the Teegs residence are now running hot again. My cheery outlook and better groomedness today bear...
Hi everyone I kind of almost forgot this place existed... actually, I can't back that up, but it has been a while since a new blog graced the Teegstar homepage. Life's been busy, but cool, in case anyone's been wondering. But then I started this blog writing for myself, not others, and if I'm going to continue it I think I should maintain that attitude about it. Today is Labour Day in Queensland. The day when lefties and unionists across the state unite and celebrate their right to good...
Somewhere in the world today, someone (or more likely, lots and lots of people) is having a birthday. Fortunately for me, one of those happy people works in my office. So we get cake! Let me tell you, few things brighten a potentially dull workday and line arteries with saturated fat more quickly than a mock cream-encased, refined flour-enriched, artificially coloured sprinkles-adorned sponge cake from Coles. The great thing about working where I do is that it doesn't necessarily have to be a...
Happy Monday morning, everyone!! The week has barely begun and already my radness is coming to the fore. Just then, one of the ad reps came in here (the room where we rocking journos work) asking whether anyone was afraid of spiders. There was a big huntsman spider in the kitchen and she was too scared to kill it. Now I don't like spiders, but I'm not frightened of them so I grabbed my trusty stiletto and ventured forth into the kitchen. There was the eight-legged beast up on the wall but ...
None of my favourite bloggers post anymore. Myself included (yes, I love my own writing). I don't get to come on JU much anymore but when I do it's a little disappointing. Mignuna's stuck in a cornflakeless New Year's Day. Floozie's still ranting about being single. Trina and Elana only just got over a bad wake-up from weeks ago. Keolin's been spouting the "communication/education" rhyme since last September. I wonder what happened to all these people? Do they move on and get a life? Have ...
Hi everyone Tuesday morning and I'm at work. Life is going amazingly at the moment. Isn't that crazy? I think sometimes it's much more acceptable to talk about the bad things that are happening with your life than the good things, because talking about the good things can come across like you're bragging. But bad things happen to everybody, so you can talk about them and people nod sympathetically and share about their own crappy life experiences and it's one big, beautiful sook-fest. Well...
Hey everyone It's a lunch break at work at the moment so I thought I'd seize the opportunity to say hi. Sitting down at the computer very briefly on the weekend I realised I couldn't remember the last time I'd used the internet at home. Usually after being in front of a computer all day at work I have better things to do, and I don't usually feel right blogging at work. Thus has my silence on the JU pages come about. So yeah, I hear it's a new year? Time flies... and so much has happene...
Each time I sit to write a blog I am hit with a massive decision. What category do I select? I can never seem to pick an appropriate category. The things I choose to blog about seem to be too random or trivial to warrant a category of their own. So most of my blogs just get lumped into the "miscellaneous" category. Good old miscellaneous. He and I are becoming so familiar, I just call him "misc" for short. Sometimes when we're feeling particularly relaxed, I'll refer to him as "The Big M"...
I feel like I'm working in a wind tunnel. There's a breeze whipping around my ankles and my ears are filled with the sound of rushing air. Yes, I'm in my office. The reason for the windiness in my place of work today is because yesterday the office manager arrived to find the whole office area filled with water. Some creative vandals had stuck a fire hydrant hose under the door the night before and saturated the entire office. Apparently the water in the kitchen, where the seal on the door...
Hello boys and girls Just me again, poking my virtual head in to demonstrate that no, I'm not dead or even seriously maimed in a way that might have affected my fingers to the point where I can't type. A brief run-down on where things stand today: I have a stuffy head and runny nose, discomfort compounded by the fact I haven't had an early night in about the past 6 months (I plan to break the trend TONIGHT). My grandma is in hospital with heart issues which is a bit scary (she's goin...
Hullo kids! And how is everyone this morning? From where I sit it's a lovely Thursday morning and I'm at home, most unusual for me. As I alluded in my previous post, the reason for my at-home-being-ness is the fact I have taken holidays from work to do my uni exams. The first, and probably the nastiest, of said exams was last night. I'm pleased to report it didn't go too badly. Now with nearly five days between present me and the next exam (which is a cushier one: drama) the study pace tod...
Faced with the threat of losing my best friend if I didn't write a blog or an email I have momentarily returned to my post behind this keyboard to tap out a blog. I have the luxury of being able to do this today as I am currently on time off work to study for my uni exams. That's right, assignments are all now over, and all I have left is four 2-to-2-and-a-half hour blocks of writing and colouring in circles between now and being finished for the semester. Halleluiah! The first of these exa...
I'm just enjoying chowing down on one of my favourite snacks: a sweet ricey delight produced by a company most famous for its popular breakfast cereals. Despite being a brilliant human being, frequently putting to shame even Australia's most powerful minds (or at least the minds of local primary-aged children) I allow myself to be sucked into the myth that this morsel is more than harmless but is actually nutritious. Why, it must be! It is stocked on supermarket shelves among crackers and...
Kids, it's time for an announcement: I've found the cure for cancer. It was right here in my office fridge all along! It's sitting in all it's furry glory nestled betwixt an alien lifeform cunningly secreted within a gherkin dip container and a bottle of wart remover that was once, in days long past, called milk. Such wonders of biology and chemistry, and all in one 80x120x40cm chilled space! Fighting fungus with fungus, Teegstar
