I think I work too much. I just sat down at the computer here at home on a Sunday afternoon, and instinctively went to open WinText, the program I write articles in at work. I've also noticed I reach to dial "0" to get an outside line when I go to make a phone call at home. And opening a magazine website or non-work email, I'm getting a compulsion to glance around and check if someone's watching. Weird. I think I need to get a life.
Hi everyone I kind of almost forgot this place existed... actually, I can't back that up, but it has been a while since a new blog graced the Teegstar homepage. Life's been busy, but cool, in case anyone's been wondering. But then I started this blog writing for myself, not others, and if I'm going to continue it I think I should maintain that attitude about it. Today is Labour Day in Queensland. The day when lefties and unionists across the state unite and celebrate their right to good...
Somewhere in the world today, someone (or more likely, lots and lots of people) is having a birthday. Fortunately for me, one of those happy people works in my office. So we get cake! Let me tell you, few things brighten a potentially dull workday and line arteries with saturated fat more quickly than a mock cream-encased, refined flour-enriched, artificially coloured sprinkles-adorned sponge cake from Coles. The great thing about working where I do is that it doesn't necessarily have to be a...
Each time I sit to write a blog I am hit with a massive decision. What category do I select? I can never seem to pick an appropriate category. The things I choose to blog about seem to be too random or trivial to warrant a category of their own. So most of my blogs just get lumped into the "miscellaneous" category. Good old miscellaneous. He and I are becoming so familiar, I just call him "misc" for short. Sometimes when we're feeling particularly relaxed, I'll refer to him as "The Big M"...
Faced with the threat of losing my best friend if I didn't write a blog or an email I have momentarily returned to my post behind this keyboard to tap out a blog. I have the luxury of being able to do this today as I am currently on time off work to study for my uni exams. That's right, assignments are all now over, and all I have left is four 2-to-2-and-a-half hour blocks of writing and colouring in circles between now and being finished for the semester. Halleluiah! The first of these exa...
I'm just enjoying chowing down on one of my favourite snacks: a sweet ricey delight produced by a company most famous for its popular breakfast cereals. Despite being a brilliant human being, frequently putting to shame even Australia's most powerful minds (or at least the minds of local primary-aged children) I allow myself to be sucked into the myth that this morsel is more than harmless but is actually nutritious. Why, it must be! It is stocked on supermarket shelves among crackers and...
Kids, it's time for an announcement: I've found the cure for cancer. It was right here in my office fridge all along! It's sitting in all it's furry glory nestled betwixt an alien lifeform cunningly secreted within a gherkin dip container and a bottle of wart remover that was once, in days long past, called milk. Such wonders of biology and chemistry, and all in one 80x120x40cm chilled space! Fighting fungus with fungus, Teegstar
I'm feeling a little uninspired this morning. This isn't such a great thing considering I have about 8 articles to write by the end of the day however I'm sure I'll be able to pull inspiration from somewhere. I don't know why I feel like this as I've actually had a really great couple of days. This morning I went to a cool corporate breakfast at one of the top 10 golf courses in Australia and met several interesting people... I'm beginning to feel a little less like a dressed-up child and a b...
Morning all! Just thought I'd check in before I zoomed off to uni this morning. I had a great weekend: completed an essay, planned next week's edition of my newspaper liftout (it's on pets: I get to play with puppies!), great church service, extremely pleasant lunch with friends, more great church last night followed by an impromptu social gathering with some of my most groovy buds. Hope everyone else out there in JU land is doing well too... Have a good day! I can get excited without w...
There's a food out there that either I haven't discovered yet or hasn't been invented yet. Unfortunately, it's what I feel like right now. I'm really hungry (and tired and a bit sick) but there's nothing that I want to eat. Isn't that stupid? What makes it even more stupid is that I'm pretty sure my tired and sick feelings would be alleviated at least somewhat if I nourished myself somehow but the fact I'm tired and sick is making me too [word like 'lazy' or 'ambivalent' which I can't thi...
Hi everyone Again, a while since I've blogged and for that I apologise profusely. I realise JoeUser is just not the same place without a regular instalment of Teganesque insight and wit. In light of this knowledge I have deigned to take this time out of my very busy schedule to give you all the electronic equivalent of a courteous wave. Now with that small chore done, I must move on to my other mammoth tasks: Showering, Dressing and Catching Up For Coffee With Friends. Mushroom-sme...
Oh my gosh.... nutella and strawberries.... Looks like you don't have to die to go to heaven.
Heya It's my first day of uni -- first day of my last full-time semester. I had my first lecture before, for Business Policy and Strategy. The final exam for that subject is worth 70%. Talk about pressure! I'm not like my friends who take courses with names like Advanced Computer Nerdulance and Mysterious Coding Languages 1000 who elect to take their final exam as worth 100% of their mark. (Who then go on to fail the subject despite the fact that the are practically Mensa candidates, all ...
Look, I'm tired. Really tired. I had two hours' sleep last night and I have to go to uni tomorrow morning. So why am I still sitting up blogging instead of crawling beneath my sheets and zoning out to the world? I'll tell you why. Because there's no one to tell me to go to bed. Isn't that stupid? If someone told me to go -- it wouldn't matter who either, it could be my little sister or some random person who just turned up on my doorstep -- I would immediately say "you're right" and hu...
I'm rather tired. About half an hour ago I arrived home from our church's camp. T'was a very fun weekend, full of plenty of silliness and general mucking around. Lucky for you I'm not able to post the ridiculous videos we made over the past 24 hours, which consisted of an infomercial, a CSI-style show called "Grime Fighters" and a really uninspiring commando crawl impersonation. I don't know what it is about me but it seems like as soon as there's a video camera around I just start actin...
