Hey all

Ok I'll admit it. I'm a word person. I love words. I guess you could even take it so far as to say I'm a bit of a word nerd, a term which i guess doubly confirms my 'word nerd' status as it so groovily rhymes. And I guess it's because I'm a word nerd that this came to my attention today in a situation where any normal person would have just gone "hm!" and moved on (if that).

"Dagnammit" -- that's the right word, right? You know, the non-offensive swear word used by bad guys in kids movies -- extended further in Home Alone, if you remember, to "ricker schmblacker corpa shmicker" -- and oftentimes accompanied by an angrily shaken fist? Well that's what I always thought it was, until today when my confidence was unexpectedly shaken by a reply to one of my posts (people have been replying! I was so excited!) where the writer expressed his frustration at the web page designer with this word: "dagnabbit".

So which is it? Dagnammit? Dagnabbit? Or something else entirely? Help me out here! You have to understand what this uncertainty is doing to me. I can't eat, can't sleep... although that may have more to do with the fact that I am both well rested and well fed at the moment than any extreme distress associated with not knowing how to pronounce an obscure expletive. That, though, is pointless; I want to know.

Roll your eyes if you will, but understand where I'm coming from. If you were a word nerd like me, you would understand.

I'm tending to go with the other two at the mo'. I felt pretty sure it was Dagnabbit.

Not that you have any, far from it by the sounds of things, but reading other peoples incorrect spelling and grammar bug me too. Especially when it would have taken very little extra effort for a person to write/type/paint/scrawl proper sentences written in english and not some SMS-nerd vs L33t5p34k style of new dialect.... "Kids Today! Well when I was a boy...."

Anyways... here is a site that ALL self-confessed WordNerds (tm) should go to...

Sleep is good. I want it to be my friend soon. *headfallsondesk*
