Maverick on the web!

Jump! Squeal! Clap your hands in the manner of a small child! If you like, continue with the small child theme and mash ice cream into your hair while singing the wrong words to the Bob the Builder theme song. Do whatever you need to do to celebrate, because this, my friends is a true cause for celebration...

MAVERICK IS ON THE WEB!

Whoa! Slow down, you're all asking me questions at once!

"Who is Maverick?"
"What do they do?"
"What's the web address?"
"What's the square root of 468?"

Well give me a moment to catch my breath and let me explain.

Maverick is a group of six young lads and lassies who routinely come together to play various instruments and sing. Occasionally they'll do this in front of groups of people. To put it bluntly, they're a band.

A bit of biog on Maverick:

The band officially formed late last year to perform at Sonfest, although the band members had performed together in various transformations before. After two full-band sets and three acoustic sets over the course of the Sonfest weekend, the band already had an enthusiastic following in the hundreds. Since Sonfest, Maverick has played a number of gigs, the most exciting and recent being at the Australian Gospel Music Festival (AGMF) over Easter weekend. Despite being scheduled to play at 9 o'clock in the morning on Easter Saturday, Maverick managed to draw around 200 people to the concert.

Maverick's musical style is eclectic to say the least and the band members are reluctant to put themselves in any particular musical category. However, to give you even a rough idea of their style, think happy pop-rock with folk, jazz, punk and ska influences. Hopefully there will be some downloadable songs on the site soon for the uninitiated!

The Maverick website went live yesterday. Obviously this is a project still in its initial stages, but don't forget the name... you'll be hearing it in the future!

Grassroots music culture is the name of the game,
