Does that title make me sound intelligent?

Alright, I lied, this article has pretty much nothing to do with the upcoming presidential election in the United States. I'm experimenting with titles though to see what people are interested in. If this fails I'm going to have to be forced to go back to the old "sex and money" drawcard.

I'm at uni right now, using a 15 minute express email computer so this will be short. I just thought I'd poke my head in and say hi to everyone. I'm researching for an assignment I'm writing on the extent to which Australia is still a Christian country. It's a really interesting topic and I'm glad I picked it. There are a number of different ways you can approach the question. The main challenge I think I'll face with the assignment will be sticking to the word limit -- it's only 1500 words.

I think people behind me in line are starting to conspicuously clear their throats to I'd better get my books' reference numbers and begone.

My newfound love: these cool chocolate-coated peppermint chews they're selling for a mere 40c at the uni lolly shop.... mmmmmm...

I was still under the impression that Australians were still predominantly Irish Catholic.

the truth is that up until the last 30 or 40 years we were predominantly Anglican, although Irish Catholic did make up a large proportion. in recent years though there has been a boom in muslim and buddhism, mostly due to immigrants from countries in asia and the middle east. plus one of the most rapidly growing religious movements, and this is due to conversion, not immigration and birth, is pentecostal christianity. as a christian who falls into that category, i find that statistic pretty exciting.
